Camp Barnabas Extreme Makeover

In case you missed it Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming back to the Ozarks.

We wanted to know how the show’s last project here in Southwest Missouri is holding up. It was at Camp Barnabas,

A summer camp for kids with disabilities operating near Purdy in Barry County. The couple, who run Camp Barnabas, says they are still feeling the effects of the makeover.

"My favorite is the hand tree"

Cyndy Teas can pinpoint the best parts of her extreme makeover house, all of it.

"People ask, do you really like your house, what is there not to like"

Millions of people watched the remodel in 2005. Cyndy and her husband Paul run Camp Barnabas near Purdy. A summer camp for disabled kids. When Cyndy and Paul won a home makeover from the popular ABC show, they had no idea the hospitality would continue 4 years later.

"Even now we'll get donations from someone who said I saw you on the makeover I didn't have money at that time but now I want to give you some money because I think what you do is great"

The makeover allowed them to do capital improvement projects that make Camp Barnabas better for campers like Kendrick Rupp.

"first time I come here it's really fun"

Kendrick's mom Lori found out about Camp Barnabas from the show and sat on a waiting list for 2 years before they could get in, but it was worth it.

"a child with a disability that comes here they're like everyone else nothing that can't be done at Camp Barnabas"

Cyndy says the next Ozarks family to get an Extreme Makeover has a lot of notoriety and a well-built house to look forward to.

"the buildings are quality and it's almost unbelievable they could build that quality and detail in a week and they really build it in a week that's not just for TV"

And what about higher taxes with a more valuable home?

"it does a little bit change it, but they advise you on how to handle it and if you do what they tell you, then you won't get hit to where you can't handle it"

Of course everyone wants to know if we'll see Ty Pennington hanging out at Bass Pro or living it up at Hammons Field, but Cyndy says his schedule was so crazy, it's not likely.

"he was overnight here, the next day they flew him out to the DC area, he spent 2 days there, they flew him back here to do closing of our show, back to do the closing of that show, the poor guy must wake up and say please someone write on the ceiling where am I"

The Teas still keep in touch with a producer from the show and he will probably visit them when extreme makeover comes back to Southwest Missouri on July 14th. For more information Click Here!
